Characters:
Samurai Champloo's characters are pretty interesting and colorful. Fuu is the ever ditzy, ever klutzy teenage girl with an unusual fixation for food. She's lovable, for the most part, and despite her outward bursts of hostility on the two ronin, she's really a caring individual. Mugen is the carefree, happy-go-lucky person in the wayward trio. The man is a loose cannon, a savage at heart, always seeking battle in order to prove his strength. He's normally unconcerned with the world around him, but when it comes to his two companions, he doesn't hesitate to display his concern, despite his crude and often rash actions. Jin on the other hand, is the contrast of Mugen. A sleek, refined and quiet man, his sword style reflects his attitudes, despite his troubled past. He's the most informed of the three; always alert and up-to-date with the surroundings they traverse through. He has a past as shady as Mugen's, but among the trio, he's the most stable and dependable member. |

Music:
Music in Champloo is naturally, dominated by rap interludes and songs. While I'm not exactly a fan of the genre, these are musical pieces that magnificently capture the mood of each scene. They're brilliantly scored so that they fit the overall hip-hop quality of the anime, without sacrificing the emotion needed to be delivered in the crucial parts. I'm actually in awe that I got to like the soundtrack of Champloo, considering it's mostly hip-hop. I'm currently hooked to the series' first ending theme, "Shiki no Uta" (Song of the Seasons) sung by Minmi, and the last episode's closer, "San Francisco" by Midicronica. Please grab it at Gendou.com (see sidebar) and sample it for yourself. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The seiyuu cast is also noteworthy and commendable. Led by my most favorite seiyuu actress, Kawasumi Ayako as the extremely lovable and cute Fuu, these guys sure know how to gracefully deliver the needed airs and roles they play in the anime. Bad-arse Mugen is played by Kazuya Nakai, more known for his role as the seiyuu of Wakka in the Final Fantasy X series. Jin's seiyuu, Ginpei Sato, has Samurai Champloo as his debut in the career. With the way he handled Jin, you can expect a bright future for Sato in the seiyuu business. Hardcore voice-overs. Rated A. |

Animation:
Samurai Champloo's animation is spectacular, as expected from a Watanabe-directed anime. The fight scenes are fluid, detailed and fast-paced. The art style in the anime is unique, and meshes well for the hip-hop theme. Backgrounds are intensely detailed, and greatly contribute to the "realistic randomness" of the series. Samurai Champloo has arguably the best animation quality among last year's anime. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 10 You can really see this is his work as you watch this show. Everything, from animation to the characters, is so extremely raw that you can't help but be sucked into the lives of these people. The episodes are not really linked, there is an overal goal and we see the crazy adventures that they have trying to get there. From a drug hazed party night to a very highstake baseball game. We can even enjoy a gay dutch merchant (note the lines in this episode spoken in dutch are perfect and without accent) Amazing adventures, combined with deep and involving characters and a genius director make this anime extremely fun to watch. If you still haven't seen it get off your ass and prepare for a wild ride (I suggest you have a some pizza, coca cola and chips handy because you're not getting up till you see all the episodes :)) And my best advise for people watching this is extremely simple to follow, enjoy yourself ;) Submitted on July 25, 2005 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 10 SWEET anime. It's funny even if youre watching the whole series in three goes by yourself..*I swear.. I didnt do that*. Well I laughed by myself. The characters rock. The story is kinda weird.. like it seems kinda common but don't be fooled by the normality of this. The characters are the best element of this series. Gotta love them!! And the music scores!!! The beginning was a bit confusing for me but you will for sure understand everything by episode three. You should definitely go out and see this anime! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rating: 9 within samurai champloos plot u learn a lot about japan in the past.they relied very much on historical economical and social facts. the story is about a girl and 2 samurais touring around together looking for a certain man. the plot isnt too bad, but its not like its a masterpiece of a plot. swordfighting sequences are made very well and amazing. chars are ...well...unique as in every anime so i kinda think its like not worth mentioning that chars are unique. but the two samurais personalities are interesting and fun to watch because they are so different ind behaviour life stile and fightig style-----all in all id say samurai champloo is defenetly worth watching. great anime , but its not that much of a masterpiece.its like good enough to fit to my fav animes, but if i had to rank those, id prolly put samuraiC at the last place.
