Is set in an alternate timeline Edo, where instead of American Blackships, aliens called Amanto brought an end to the Bakamatsu period. The story follows the day to day lives and jobs of the three memebers of the Yorozuya (jack of all trades) Gin-chan.

Sakata Gintoki: Main Character. Lazy samurai bum, who like sweet things. Shimura Shinpachi: Useless Megane. Who's ambition is to be a samurai. Kagura: a girl from the yato clan (mercenary race). She is unbelieveably strong and had a giant dog called Sadaharu. Shimura tae: Shinpachi's insane, violent older sister. Who cannot cook and is currently being stalked. Katsura Kotarou: Former comrade of Gintoki in the anti-amanto war. He loves soba. He seeks to liberate Japan from the Amanto, with his pet and side kick Elisabeth (appears as a giant penguin, but it's race is unknown) Shinsengumi: The police Force Kondo: Gorilla. Currently stalking Shinpachi's sister. Hijikata: Mayoura. Sogou: Insane Sadist

Is traditional nothing amazingly special. But the eccentric characters make up for the lack of cgi.

Has lots of references to japnese film, television and literature. So it will probably never get licensed for american broadcast T_T. But if you like japanese things and lvoe to laugh WATCH THIS!!! Also good for people who like random anime.
