Story:

If you are already a fan of the famed manga DNA, then basically, there is no need to read on further. Okay, there is some changes, but not a lot. This anime is extremely linear to the comic form except removing certain parts of the scenes which is deemed 'too graphic for children'. Upwards and downwards, Well, it starts out with a girl in the future about to travel through time; of course, in order to bring humor, she almost forgot to bring a bullet which was needed for a mission. The target, Junta, the future creature know as the Mega Playboy. Yes this is a serious/funny anime.

It starts out with Junta being seduced by a friend of his, Tokomo, and before he got his hand on her, well, he vomited (ppl may wonder, how can he be a playboy?) Well, the answer is that Junta is afriad of sexy stuff and whenever he gets near anything like that, he vomits. Maybe he'll improve in the future.... Anyways, the next day, Junta found out that he was played by Tomoko and was quite sad. On his way home, he met Karin (the girl from the future) and she asked him out for coffee. At the cafe, Karin told Junta everything about the future saying that one of Junta's gene (the mega-playboy gene) will become active causing Junta to get 100 girls pregnat, and his children (mainly guys thank god) mates successfully with another 100 girls. Now, think about that for a couple generations resulting in a population boom and then overpopulation. Then she shot Junta with a DCM, a bullet that alters DNA, and left.

After she returned to her ship, her computer AI informs her that she used the wrong DCM and actually increased the rate of the Megaplayboy Gene domination by 120%. Realizing that she made a mistake and making mistakes results in the death penalty, she continues her mission to find a way to slow down the domination or even stop it. Anyways, Junta can transform into a different person (the megaplayboy version of Junta) and charms all the girls including Tomoko. However, he was not able to charm his old girl-buddy Ami; after finding that information out, Karin tries to matchmake them together while all hell breaks loose when the boyfriend of Tomoko finds out! As Karin tries harder and harder to matchmake them, little does she know that she is beginning to fall in love with Junta.....

Characters:

Much like the Manga, well excatly the same as the manga. To others new to this series, i'll do a little summary.

Junta- The hero of the story, he's basically a loser towards the girls due to his tendencies of throwing up whenever they get close to him. Later, due to the DCM bullet, he is able to transform to his Megaplayboy form to please girls and gain superhuman strength. However, the more he changes, the sooner the genes would take dominance over him.

Karin- Girl of the future given the task to alter Junta's DNA to wipe out existance of the Megaplayboy gene. The reward is a loving husband, a cute pet, and a sweet sweet home. She has superhuman strength due to gene alteration to make humans stronger in the future and can get angry quite fast. Although she seems selfish, she's really not. Although she wants to go home really fast, she begins to love Junta for what he has become and begins to detest leaving Junta with Ami.

Ami- Junta's childhood friend, he treats her just like a guy. However, she begins to fall in love with him without him noticing. Also, she is the only female to be immune to the Super Playboy charm. Karin is making Junta stay with him to prevent him from begin taken over. She is the non-selfish type that can be extremly destructive (a la Love Hina-Naru)

Tomoko- The pretty girl of the series. She lives alone most of the time and is pretty much spoiled. She used to go out with Ryuji and played Junta just to get back at Ryuji for cheating on her. However, after the Superplayboy incident, her heart followed Junta and it leads to disaster when Ryuji finds out. Although she aknowledges Junta and Ami's relationship of lovers/friends, she is willing to try her hardest to win over Junta's heart. Later, she rejects Ryuji.

Ryuji- Pretty much the school player. Although he is madly in love with Tomoko, he believes in the DNA destiny (one where Man is created to spread his genes to the fittest female to create a superior version of himself) and often play around with other women. Although Tomoko was angry at him, he thought she'll return to him. However, after Tomoko Dumps him, he truely finds out how much in love he is with her. Later when he found out that Tomoko love Junta, his anger with the help of his given DNA turns vicious and thirst for revenge.

Music:

The opening and ending song was awsome and the music blended in with the scenes really well. Hell, they even slipped in the song for the characters to sing. Well, besides these two songs, there really isn't anymore other songs that could be heard through out the anime. I just love the rockish soft touch of the opening song Blurry Eyes. It rocks. Another reason to own DNA^2

Animation:

DNA truly sticks with the original artist's touch and is truly identical to his drawings. However, that sense of touch changed near the end of the series. It seems that the drawings of different scenes were from different departments with different sense of style. For that inconsistancy, I docked them off half a mark. Although the style changed, the middle section-near end sections where the animation's finest point with the perfect facial structure (sideways), that gave them an extra half mark. However, the end of the series, excluding the OVAs, the quality declined to the series's worst animation. The animation seem extremely low quality and it was a big decline in animation quality (from one scene to another change type). That sudden change of style, i dock off 1 full mark. If they changed it in another episode, I would've given it a 10. However, the true taste of DNA is there and better than ever.

*in one of the episode, there is a brief section (1-2 seconds of rear nudity *buttox) and it happens only twice, same briefness. There are no nudity here.
