Story:

Kouyama Mitsuki, a twelve year old girl with a dream of becoming a singer, but, she has a throat cancer that won't allow her to sing. Her dream to sing and be a famous Jpop star was to fulfill a promise she had with the boy she loves, Sakurai Eichi. This promise was that she would become a singer and he would be an astronaut, and at that time they would be able to see each other. Unfortunately, two Shinigami (Angels of Death) appeared because Mitsuki was going to die in a year. Mitsuki was also able to see those two Shinigami, Takuto and Meroko. But, with this news, Mitsuki has nothing to lose but to try her best to be a singer. She wasn't able to audition because she wasn't fifteen years old; however, Takuto cured Mitsuki and changed her into a fifteen year old with his blood and let her audition. Thinking that she wouldn't make it through, Takuto was surprised at her performance and the judges choose her to be the next company singer for Seed Records. With her fate changed, Takuto and Meroko helped Mitsuki through an adventurous journey of being the top Jpop star and to help her meet Eichi.

Characters:

Kouyama Mitsuki - A twelve year old girl with a singing talent that she got from her father and her charm from her mother. She had always loved Eichi from back when she was in the orphanage because her parents both died when she was young. She doesn't remember much about her parents. The promise to be with Eichi again helped her overcome the troubles to rise to the top of her Jpop singer career. She is a very cheery character but she is very emotional and does what she can to help.

On a side note, her character was voice acted by an actual Jpop singer and I think she's very talented.

Takuto - This shinigami with cat ears has a deep past behind him that he doesn't remember. Somehow, it makes him want to help Mitsuki all the way no matter what. He's a very stubborn but the most helpful friend for Mitsuki and he had even started to like her.

Meroko - This shinigami with bunny ears has always like Takuto. She is always jealous that Takuto likes Mitsuki but she doesn't believe it. She helps Mitsuki a lot with her powers; however, sometimes she fails to do so and feels really bad about it. She never gives up on Takuto.

Wakaouji Keiichi - A doctor who is treating Mitsuki's throat cancer had become Mitsuki's guardian. For some reason, Wakaouji has his reasons for helping Mitsuki. Like Takuto, he also has a deep past, and what happened before made him dislike hearing music.

Mitsuki's Grandma - She has a really strict behavior and tries to raise Mitsuki properly. She hates music very much because her daughter (Mitsuki's mother) ran away with a musician. Now she plans to raise Mitsuki without this happening again.

Masami Oshige - She is Mitsuki's manager from Village Pro. She handles all of Mitsuki's scheduling but she is a very kind lady who loves music. When Mitsuki tells her why she wants to sing, she is set on helping Mitsuki to have her voice heard by Eichi. When she is depressed, she gets real mad and starts drinking. She's very willing to do anything to help Mitsuki.

Music:

For a music anime the rating is going to be high. Incorperating Mitsuki's songs into the mood of the story with a complete lyrical harmony that describes Mitsuki's feelings is a big help in understanding the story through the music. Even though it's a simple anime, most of the music encompasses the comedic relief, flashback, the feelings during the show; however, the outstanding pieces of music gives this anime the real meaning of music that's sung and written by the heart.

Animation:

The animation style is quite old and simple. Full Moon wo Sagashite had no reason to be flashy with lots of action. Most animes that are aired did stand out more than Full Moon's animation.

Comments:

I love this series because I love singing. This series could light up a singer's heart. Somehow I believe that the hardships of a Asian Pop singer can be understood with this series. People can understand how stars like BoA rise to the top.

The story was very complicated and encompassed the theme of music very well. It had a constant flowing story with barely any sidetracking episodes.

The characters of the story weren't very dramatic. They were all portrayed in a simple way but nothing award winning.

As a music anime with the most fitting music theme, it deserves the best.

The animation was proper for the anime and gave into the simplicity for everyone to understand, but, it could have improved.

This is a good anime if you like drama, singing, and cuteness. If you're only into action piled onto more action then you won't really like it.

Tanemura Arina is one of my favourite manga artists so I was thrilled to see another one of her works animated. Since I have been seeing this get such a bad rating I had to comment, as I disagree - I loved this series. With the attacks on the music - I liked it. The music was slow and rather touching, I was able to feel the emotion of the vocalist in many of her songs. They are very well done. My favourite being "New Future." The opening theme music really isn't bad either it's just really hyper and perky. XD It's crazy hyper music, a nice contrast to the rather slow songs in the series. I beleive the light heartedness done in the opening was a good idea when the story's plot, though not always, can be so depressing. Well since I love Tanemura's art I'm biased with the character designs and overall artwork. I loves them all. X3 Very cutesy and colorful. Like shoujo should be in my opinion XD The plot was decent and highly dramatic, and although sometimes predictable, it does end well. Therefore, i highly recommend this series. Besides who can resist shinigami in kitty ears?
