This story is about a cursing family Souma... When hungged by different sex, they'll transformed into the 12 horroscope, but when they are hugged by their own kind, they won't transformed even though they are of different sex...

There are many different kinds of characters in the story... Each of them carrying a strong negative part of themselves... Yuki: He is born in the year of rat... At first he is hated by many people, because of the legend... "Rat is a cunning animal"... He is being hated by the Cat (Kyou) and the Cow, but slowly they don't hate him anymore but the cat (kyou) just don't like him... He is afraid of the head of the family, because, the head of the family, used to mentally tortured him for quite a long time... He wanted to get out of the Souma premises... Kyou (Cat): A stubborn and a shy character... Being abandoned by his family a long time ago... He got two sides of transformation, one is the usual look, the cat, while the other side of him, is a monster... I'm quite pity him and understand why he wanted to duel with Yuki... He wanted to be part of the family... He was adopted by his Master... He too have a negative side of him due to he head of the Souma family... He was afraid to let other people to see the other side of him... Tohru Honda: A kind helpful girl whose parents passed away... Her mother passed away when she's 15 or 16... She lived in the tent, which the premeises belongs to the Souma family... After that she lived with Yuki... She's an understanding girl who never fails to understand the needs of the Souma family, slowly, most of the Souma cursed people have met her and they like her a lot... She was being warned not to get near of the Souma family, but she refused to do that as she wanted to protect them... She has two unique friends... always by her side... The rest of the characters are cute and like I said they all have a part of negaitve side of them... They are afraid of the head of the Souma's family... The curse is actually The Head...

The music is quite nice and sad.. it soothing and comforting....

The animation effects is quite good and it brings laughter and tears...

GO read the MANGA... it's more fun and touching to read at... You'll learn more about the curse and actually there's someone who has already break free from the curse... You got to guess who it is... And you'll Know the big secret of The Head of Souma... It's actually breathtaking....The anime is too short

i love this anime,it's actually one of the only type of anime that made me a sort of anime lover!!hehehe..but yup i still prefer the manga.there's more story to it and lots of complex emotions involved..and the secret of the curse!!wished they made a second season though...huhu...

Whoa... this is a really great review, I like it a lot. It's really very detailed. When I read this review done by you, it seems that I'm in the anime again. I agreed with you that the anime is too short but there's a lot of touching scene and I think that you miss out. If you could mention some of the scenes it might do us the readers a great favor. But anyway, you've covered most of the points, it's really a better job compared to one of the reviewer Apple and she even gave you a zero. Too much! But don't get too upset. You really did a good job better than her in writing "Fruits Basket". You really know the story well. Look forward to your next anime review. ~Cheer~ :p

I absolutely LOVED this anime.. It should have gotten a higher rating. The only thing I can complain about is that the ending kinda disappointed me, but everything else is great!
