The 2010 Winter Olympics are OVER posted by: Colje
The last 17 days have brought out the Canadian spirit that lies deep within me. So many celebrations happened everyday in the city of Vancouver, yet there was so little time to enjoy it all due to busy work schedules.
Canada may not have received the most overall medals, however we won the Gold medal count by getting 14 medals. The most gold medals ever won by a nation during the Olympic Winter Games!
These Olympic Games got off to a dark start with the death of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili. May his legacy always be remembered.
Other problems include the cauldron's hydraulic system malfunctioning during the opening ceremonies, and the record breaking warm temperatures causing a lack of snow on the mountains. However, organizers overcame the many problems faced by the end of the first week.
Hopefully we showed the world how great the city of Vancouver is and how much pride we Canadians have for our great country.
I am proud to be Canadian!
