I watched the old OVAs when I was a kid (and loved them obviously)
so I'm watching the new series and was kinda disappointed cuz I remember it being alot more violent and what not (even tho I can't really remember much about the old OVAs)
so I'm re-downloading them now... and I've watched the first 3 eps

maaan the old school OVAs kick the living sh*t out of the new series... let me elaborate

this is a show that demands massive amounts of violence... the ridiculous amount of blood was one of the things that made Guyver so fun when I was a young lad

the music in the new series totally blows in comparison to the OVAs... the new stuff just doesn't fit the scenes as well as the old stuff does

I also prefer the art in the OVAs... i.e. the old Guyver design looks alot more like a biological weapon and that scene where the Guyver first merges with Sho is alot more vicious in the OVAs etc. etc.

the voices are actually better in the new series, but I find myself enjoying the old voices more simply because I'm so used to today's seiyuu (I can pick most of the voices whenever I watch a modern anime)

the only thing that the new TV series does have over the old OVAs is the animation quality

Edit: another thing I forgot to mention was that the story actually flows better in its compressed OVA form... tho, it is interesting to see the full story, the OVA changes were extremely well thought out

i agree and disagree with you.

the artwork isnt as good as the old OAV's but most of the things.

now the oav was cool but i dont think it kicks the shit out of this one.

so far the only differance is that the first 2 episodes are in the first oav.

now the music does blow. i miss the old music of the anime. it just kicked ass.

i wouldnt know about the voices since i watched it in english and well they dound different

now the guyver looks the same from what i remmember. they only difference is that they colour is abit lighter than before
