As for Bittorrent Clients:
ABC

As for a direct connect clone:
StrongDC (allows multisource downloading, best dc clone ever)

As for other programs:
Shareaza, Ares, and IRC

Between those, you don't ever ever need anything else :D

New releases = IRC (using mIRC and bitchX) ((Yes I know IRC isn't p2p but x.x)
Batch release = bit torrent (bit comet)
Older/rare stuff = DC++ (Direct Connect)
Trading = FTP (Using Serv-u and flashfxp) ((Yes I know this isn't p2p either sue me -_-"))

Direct Connect can truly be a gold mine sometimes find the rarest stuff there :] Also viruses are rare there only down site (or not) is that you have to share unlike most p2p.

Remember sharing makes the world go round ^_~

So don't be a selfish asshat and upload/share after you downloaded. *glomp*

Also on side note, Don't use bitlord it has issues... basicly its a hacked up version of Bit Comet now if that was all that I wouldn't care less BUT...

[rant]
Bitlord and older versions of Bit comet reports false data to the tracker
and to other peers. it reports that it is sending out way more data to
peers than it actually is. So basically its cheating the foundations of bit torrent. Now I am sure your thinking "Why would I give a **** as long I can download fast!" but by using a "cheating" client you get unhealthy torrents so basically your cutting your self (and others) as overall speeds will be worse for everyone. a healthy torrent works on the rewards
system most of the time. meaning its like "ok ill send you a piece of
this torrent, then you tell me when you sent it to someone else, and
ill send you another." Bitlord, as soon as it receives a piece,
whether it sends or not, reports back to the client that it received
it from that it sent it to another peer. So if you stop using bad clients the torrent gets healthier, and the people who use real
clients, and try to go 1:1 on the torrents get the complete torrent
faster.

IRC! I'm one of those people who actually know how to use fserves so yeah, I prefer IRC. However, BT is 2nd best and Limewire is for the rare/vintage anime. (Who doesn't love the fact that you can use limewire to dl limewire pro?)
