well, to differ from other peoples ideas i kind of like the simplicity of kai's paint versions.... (not to mention i don't have any better version of art program myself)

except i have never been able to draw on a computer very well. since i am left handed i just have sucky motor skills.

but i like the pics. Do you create backgrounds for every drawing? (stories to why/who/and so on so forth blah blah blah)

Not for every drawing, although this one does have somewhat of a background. It's not very detailed yet though. The characters I draw during the school year tend to have more detailed backgrounds. As I have more time to think about it. During the summer it's hard enough to actually get myself to draw. So I'll maybe dedicate only 3-5 minutes a day to a single characters story (like this fox one.) That's not including the time it takes to draw it. During that time I spend the most time thinking about the character and what he/she is like.

(lol I'm going to ramble now...)
If I want to create a story with a group of characters the next step after developing the characters general personality/story is to design a setting. I didn't do this with my Kakashi-Yukito comic so it basically turned out to be a gag strip with no real setting. As a result the setting was nothing anyone would or could have any attachment to. This was fine for what it was. With a real comic/manga you need to think up the inside/outside of main area of interaction. This allows idea's to flow better and helps you to really get inside your characters heads.

Hoji: Shiro, what's that?
Shiro: Huh? What? The vase?
Hoji: Yes, the Vase.
Shiro: What about it?
Hoji: Nothing really, it's just been by your fireplace for as long as I can remember.
Shiro: It was my mother's vase...
Hoji: Oh...
...
Shiro: She found it in a Cracker Jack box
Hoji: O_o;?

Whenever I draw I usually see the picture in my head, but then when I'm done it's the same character just in a completely different pose or something.

Certain colors reflect the personality of a character. Just go with what best compliments that.

As for this drawing, I just went with fox colors. ^^

if ur into the whole digital art thing, u shud try artpad, i like it alot better.
with ms paint u get those pixely lookin lines n stuff, with artpad its cleaner, better coloring capabilities too!

anyway nice stuff, keep mousing
unless u use a tablet
