You're the ones that encoded kino no Tabi right?

MKV suck donkey balls BTW, please use avi. or at the very least OGM.

MKV does use AVI for the video, but it supports more options for Audio and Subtitles(srt/ssa/Sub), OGM is limited in what can be done with it as far as some of it goes (OGM only supports .srt for subs, no multi angle for video)

I garantee you an sub group that doesnt use straight up avi will meet with limited sucess.

Remember that other group that did moonphase in mkv? no? No one else does either.

I don't get a chance to watch FunSubs much, too much encoding on my end. but any group that wants to have more then the one language can use MKV, just because you haven't liked the format doesn't mean it "suck donkey balls" everything has advantages and it's best to learn what they are and use them when you can, insted of saying it sucks and never trying it.

Well yeah, an MKV would be usefull if you released an ep with multiple language tracks. Cept you're forgetting 2 things;

1- Recent series only have Jap audio, it's just a hassle to swich on the subs everytime you start an ep and loose the dialogue if you need to pause

2- no one cares about non-japanese audio.

So the supposed "advantages" of MKV arent worth the hassle. If it doesnt run on vidlan it's not worth the download.

EDIT; and as far as different sub tracks go, a non-english group *COULD* release the sub file independently of the actual video. BUT since this requires that you have the exact matching file it was encoded for. Wich would need perfect organisation and cooperation with raw provider and subber. It's not impossible, but honestly there's just too much room for error.

Sooooooooooooooo, what are you planning to sub?

Please dont say AMG/air/negima -_-

I'd suggest the new shin getter (dropped by [ASS]) or samurai gun (never been done)

Or are you only a dvd ripper group?

MKV are rarely used for fansubs. Those Kino no Tabi rips from Vision Anime weren't fansubs either. And MKV could do a lot for fansubs. Being able to apply alternate language subs, styled and unstyled fonts, and remastered audio tracks for older shows.

Of course MKV fansub releases just for the sake of making it an MKV would be rather silly.
