Fall 2010 has many shows to offer compared to earlier seasons. Sora no Otoshimono Forte, Bakuman, Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wakeganai, Arakawa Under the Bridge × Bridge, Shinryaku Ika Musume, Motto To LOVE-ru, Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai and To Aru Majutsu no Index 2 are only the anime im already sure to watch. I hadnt have a long list like that for a long time.

it's not, and it does not change the fact that it's generally a lousy season

not expecting much from the world god only knows either, cuz I know the story gets way more interesting after he captured 10 girls or so and it won't be covered in the animu :P

Arakawa is pretty good, good thing there's the first season too

Bakuman is legit, if somewhat slow

P&S I'm on the fence, it's fucking dumb but somewhat entertaining

Jellyfish princess is pretty good

not too sure about the rest frankly, some of the stuff I tried was fucking awful

all in all tho, great season

I'm not so sure about the great season, but it's nice to find one show I'm enjoying.

I think on average this season is pretty decent. Where it's not as polarizing to me as past seasons where I like a couple of series, but HATE the rest.

Show's like, Soredemo Machi Wa Mawateiru, The World God Only Knows, and My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute, while not super compelling, are pretty tolerable and can have a moment here and there. Haven't watched Bakuman or Squid Girl yet.

But keeping up with Kuragehime, P&S, Index 2 (since I saw the rest). Plenty for me at least.

Also, blast from the past!

Haha, thanks for the blast from teh past. 1998 was a legendary year for animes, if that chartfag is to be believed! Several of my favourites in there. Some really awful stuff too.

This season is stupid. I don't like it. Kuragehime is very good though.

I will continue with Kimi ni Todoke and check out Wolverine and Rio: Rainbow Gate.
Any other suggestions perhaps?

Rio makes no sense, as in, I have no clue who this show is intended for.

Level E and Fractale are the picks of the season.

Level E

More on Fractale
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/brain-diving/2011-01-11

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica - the same director in Nanoha and more recently Arakawa, so it's magic girls on an acid trip. It has its flaws, but moments of inventive art style and the music carry it so far. The staff member combination is interesting, which is fueling my curiosity.

Yukekui Merry - fun popcorn anime.

Beelzebub - it's a lesser combo of Cromartie, Gashbell and Gintama.

More wa Zombie desu ka? - lesser version of Dokuro-chan

Maybe
Hourou Musuko - stopped watching halfway, but only b/c I didn't feel like watching a drama. What I saw seemed ok.

GOSICK - the initial mystery seemed dumb, but might turn out better.

^ Sounds about right... I really like Level E, from the first two eps. I liked it from the OP, but yeah. Fractale I initially passed off as rubbish after skipping through the first ep, but I later sat down to watch it and found it bearable, with a possibly interesting storyline possiblating in it. Possibly the possibly good story is possibly to do with that author linked there, but I couldn't maintain the concentration requaired to read the whole article.

Rio looked cool from the chartfags (pretty much what you posted there with the gaming and tits) but I was seriously put off by just seeing a huge amount of screenshots of a huge amount of tits in a small amount of bikinis and some sort of pool party which might have been the entire episode. Was there anything else to it? She's capturing magical gate cards, what.

But yeah nah, the screenplay in Level E is hilarious. Looking forward to it. Haven't picked up any of the fluffy stuff yet.

I did like the first episode of Hourou Musuko but, if general plot synopses can be trusted, it seems to travel down the path of serious character drama regarding gender misidentification syndromes and the dealing with of various puberty problems, which I'm just not quite comfortable watching for popcorn enjoyment.

Is Beelzebub actually interesting? I should check it out since you say it's something like Cromartie, but if it turns out like Bleach I'm going to explode someone.
(edit: yeah, it's pretty random... but not quite fast paced and strange enough. Plus it has a loathsome baby thing.)

Oh yah, Gosick. The title is awesome; I didn't even twig as to what it meant until told about it afterwards, despite noting the girlie was a super goth-loli. Not so sure about this as a show, but it could possibly have its possibly potentially interesting episodes.

That sounds like the 2nd ep which I didn't see.

I can get fanservice, the rest of it is just all over the place and makes no sense. Because on top of that the show tries to make gambling endearing, Rio can kick multiple dudes asses, there's some quasi magic thing going on, etc. It's trying to be a kid's show at the same time which is an odd fit. Say when the stakes of a poker match decided by a child involves Rio's nudity and a teddy bear.

Also, if Rio is so good gambling, like magically good, why is she a dealer for some pervy casino owner that makes her wear skimpy outfits she doesn't like instead of... gambling?

Yeah, it seemed so sincere which isn't a bad thing, but I'm just not normally in the mood for a show like that as well.

It sounds pretty cool. I suppose the idea of the show is to make her seem as though she can magically produce cash whenever she wants but she can be can also easily be controlled by a pervy dude and show some flesh, which will be endearing qualities to the general pachinko playing desparate salaryman anime watching audience. That does sound like a bit of a limited audience when I say it like that though.

It's weird to think that a gambling machine mascot could have a cartoon with nudity which also aims at kids. That kind of thing probably wouldn't make it past the censorship office in the western world. Does she smoke too?
I'm going to go ahead and download an episode, actually. An anime like this can't come along every day.

edit: wow, the fan service is definitely there.

Just thought it was funny when one of the people working on a storyboard tweeted

"Itsuki_Imazaki: What the hell is this? I'm virtually not responsible for this."

It must really suck having to work with other anime fags and studio execs when trying to do something creative :-S I guess everyone's working their way towards being creative director of their own studio so they can do their own things.
But yeah, that tweet sounds believable and funny. Rio is a strange show.

Visually, you can tell a lot of care and money went into it. Curious on how much it makes.

I suppose the opposite can happen where one becomes the head of the studio and uhm… Ponyo happens.

Though something could be said of making something purely for yourself, an extreme example can be found in the case of Henry Darger.

That's a cool t-shirt >_> The art style of Madoka is what really makes it interesting - that surreal cut-out cartoon monty python thing that happened. Plus the futuristic set designs are so very twee. Well, they're not really twee, but I wanted to use that word because it's cool. They're more refreshingly original without being "out there".

What an interesting fellow this Darger seems to have been. I shall view his posthumous biographical documentary machine.
