So either anime sucks and has become too mainstream (because it is quite popular with american youth who is by default retarded) or weve all grown past anime

Yeah nah, there's some good animes coming out and I've been meaning to watch it all for a while... but there's such a backlog that it's kind of daunting now.
It doesn't help that I've been playing lots of games either, I guess. And playing games doesn't count as growing out of animes; the two are inseparably intertwined in today's modern visual culture.
