Are chicks with eyepatches replacing black dudes w/ afros?

Talk about anime here, whether it's upcoming or oldschool.

If memory serves, doesn't people usually get an afro if they are exposed to explosions in Keroro Gunzou?

And wasn't there a black guy in Samurai Champloo somewhere? The music kind of suggests it at least...

I am sorry to say, but having a Dutch gay guy running around in shorts was already a stretch (there were Dutch there, but they weren't allowed to just run around freely), where would they find a black guy in 17th-18th century Japan?!

In gunso they get the amuro fro, yes. And the only reason they do is because it's the amuro fro.

Black Lagoon is like the only anime I can remember with a black recurring character. No afro though.

Piccolo appears in the episode Waltz for Venus. He is a vicious crime boss who controls a gang of (white) criminals. Piccolo causes the death of a young man the hero Spike has come to care very much for.

Robotech Macross: Claudia Grant (Claudia Lasalle in the Japanese original) is the chief weaponry officer and navigator aboard the SDF-1 (super dimensional fortress).

Joco from Shaman King is a teenager with dark brown skin, thick lips and an afro.

Muramura is a minor character who appears in only one episode of Nadia - the Secret of Blue Water. Nadia herself also looks colored.
