The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Postby condessaD » Sat Mar 17, 2007 6:35 pm

Hello...don't know if anyone's going to read this, but figured it was worth a shot to ask...

I've recently become addicted to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime, which is fantastic (in case anyone was wondering), and I found out that it's based on novels which have also been made into manga. My question is this: has anyone read this manga? Is it good--worth reading? Or is it just like the books and the anime?

Thanks for taking the time to read this, at least...any help is appreciated...I'm new here, by the way... :swt:

If you are talking about the novel version, its the same as the anime for vol1,2 then it goes different. Since you are fan you should read it. Its more interesting then funny. I got up to vol7 and i'm not sure if there is more.

I've never heard of manga version of Haruhi.

I know the novels are being translated, but I had heard they weren't very good...I will give them a try now, thanks!

I'll keep searching...maybe the manga is out there somewhere...

Thanks again!

well the book was translated from chinese translation of the novel (they're sold in taiwan or something) that's why some people just bitch about how it may be lost in translation but the translation weren't that off, they're still nicely translated

I curse that I have yet to learn Japanese. Someday, maybe, someday I will be able to read and watch manga and anime and novels in the original language...for now I will settle with hopefully reliable translations...*sigh* Thanks again!

There is deffinately a manga, it's all over the place in Japan. It doesn't hurt that the covers are rediculously cute.

I believe there are some people over at www.sos-dan.com who are working on the manga, including 'Tsuruya Beam' who i know is an awesome person. I hope they'll start the Mayuge Izm project once they're done with the Haruhi manga.
