O-O I've always wondered how to do that though... I've read about rem-detecting masks with flashy lights or buzzy watches.. but yeah. I don't have them.

Well, since dreams at least to a degree reflect your day-to-day life but work often quite differently you can use things what you do normally as a trigger. For instance you can't read text in dreams, so if you are in the habit of reading and suddenly find the text doesn't make any sense you are probably asleep. Another is that time isn't linear in dreams. Based on this one very common method is to always look at your watch twice: if it gives you two different times you'll know you it's a dream.
I've also heard some people look at their hands. Something to do with how the halves of the brain work, I think.

That's all cool and it seems to make sense, but... I don't think about things like that in a dream o_o I can't deliberately look at my watch to see if I'm dreaming, I mean. I guess I have to think of some real life habits to trigger my brain to ask that question, I guess... like.. um. Yeah. I guess I could keep it in my head that nonsensical text means I'm dreaming though, yeah ^^

I wonder if doing manual stuff with both hands at once promotes some sort of cognizant awesomeness o_o

Yeah, the watch checking requires that you'll do it normally. If you spend conscious effort into always looking at your watch twice you'll soon find you do the same thing in a dream, too.

One method you could try, and doesn't require changing any of your normal habits, is look at the clock when you go to bed. Then you just tell yourself:
"It is now 11PM. In four hours time it will be 3AM and I will be asleep. I will be dreaming. In four hours time I am dreaming."
That's a self-suggestive way of becoming conscious of the fact that you are dreaming. Since in the dream you don't have a fixed concept of time the conscious part of your brain which thinks "It's now 3AM" will then tell the rest of your brain that you are in fact dreaming. It probably requires you have a fairly good sense of time when you are awake, though.

In the very few times I've caught myself dreaming it was more due to things like, having different friends in the same place then realizing they've never met before or the timeline is different. Most of the time I just roll with it or can't help it, sometimes I just say screw this I'm going to fly now.

So I had another dream last night
I was working at my till, and these people were buying
caramel candies, they wanted a couple of them, but I couldn't find anymore
so I charged them just for one, it came out to 19.99 change, so they gave me a penny and I gave them 20. But then, I realized I made a mistake an their receipt and that I accidentally gave them boxing day prices
so some how.... (I don't remember)
Me and my mom just appeared shopping at this mall
(donno which one, one of the crappy single floor ones)
but she reminded me that we were invited to a banquet
on the roof, I siad I had to work at 5:45
(which is true, I do work at that time today)
And, we looked outside, we must've been a thousand feet up because all we could see was sky and clouds, and It was all dark
I'm like "o crap, I forgot bout work!" and she's like "oh well, you already missed it," so we went to the banquet through this elevator which we had to ask security to find, and all of a sudden were dressed in formal wear, me wearing this red spaghetti strap thing lol (which is strange cause this was the dress I was looking for for my g9 grad, and didn't find)
and we took the elevator all the way up, my mom was getting scared because she doesn't like heights. So the doors open, ad its this giant glass
5 floored observatory thing with his tropical with this waterfall and everything, and there was like royalty their, these really hot shirtless ushers escorted us in, checked our names, even though we were late
and I asked what everyone was their for and they said a viewing
of this really rare animal and it takes someones life at the end of the night, I'm like "thats stupid" so I start to look around and I find my way into this storeroom and they have all these replica swords, one like a buster sword
but broken, so I was sad lol. So, I started talking to all these people, and I find out that the person gets cursed and they change into something before they die, and I see my hands start changing, so I freak out and run into the nearest empty room and take off the armor I was wearing all of a sudden lol, with the dress underneath, and I change into this gross decaying wolf, then I change back. I am seriously mad at this point, cause
I came for a party, not to be sacrificed for other peoples enjoyment, So, I figured I'd kill myself my own way rather than letting something else do it
so, I'm find with this, I break the window, everyone starts screaming I walk to the edge, look down, and it doesn't scare me, everyone starts coaxing me to step back, but I jump anyway but, as I fell, these 2 other people saved me (I THINK they were the twins from ouran, but I don't know lmao)
so I ended up falling around the jungle scene, and then all these inkblot creatures start jumping out from everywhere, and everyone runs and screams as that weird think emerged form a thundercloud that spontaneously manifested around the ceiling and this grotesque looking thing came out, the last thing I remember it was looking right at me

weird eh?
Im so bored...

I like dreams. They're just so random ^.^

I used to be able to wake myself up from a dream. I would purposedly trip myself in my dream to wake up... but can't do that anymore tho

And now I'm frequently having those weird moments when I'm half asleep but I can't move my body. It's like I'm paralyzed. Kind of scary ...

It's Memon dream time!

So I saw the new death note op/ed, I hated them, so I had a DN dream last night

Err, it was really weird, to say the least,
it was like kingdom hearts w Light and Misa (oddly, I was Light)
and we were swimming through the ocean (a la wind waker)
She was complaining cause she was getting wet and ruining
her clothes, and she wanted me to carry her
So being the gentleman that I was, I said yes,
So after being chanced by little mermaid characters
we end up on this island with a casino
But I wasn't following the story so I flipped a few pages back
(if that makes ANY sense lmao)
But I couldn't so we continued
anyways, we went into the casino, into the elevator
and there was someone else with us, I can't remember who..
but then the door started shaking like something was trying to break in.
Being quick thinkers, we went up into the ceiling vents
at which point aa bull (i kid you not) stormed through
and began chasing us.
At this point, we lost the other guy
and Misa's skirt got caught on the bull's horns,
Now she started complaining how she didn't want anyone to
see her in her underwear, so I lent her my jacket and continued
to carry her through this crowded casino while being chased by a bull,
at this point the casino changed into a mall
finally, after a while, we lost the bull by running into the girls locker room
Now, they started screaming at me, because I was not suppose to be there.

And thats when I woke up :P
Im so bored...

I love your dreams. (which seems weird to say somehow... O_o)

I NEVER remember my dreams.

No, wait, in all my life I was able to remember four of them.

- The recuring nightmare of my childhood with me chased by growing hordes of canibal zombies. I always ended up surrounded and perched at the top of a telephone pole and usually woke up terrified.

- The one where I cross a bridge in a horse costume.

- The one where I choke with birds feathers in my throat.

- And of course the one where I directed a wonderful play that I wrote. A chef-d'œuvre, if I do say so myself. Can't remember a word of it of course.

I want to have dreams like you! T_T

I had a dream last month where I was riding along in my mom's old van, which then morphed into her new CRV. I somehow managed to get into the backseat. As I'm looking out the back window at the countryside flying by, I reach into my backpack, and pull out a spider. I have severe arachnophobia, and that scared the white outta me. I dropped it, and the bag turned into a tire, and suddenly the back of the car was draped in spiderwebs.

I looked up and saw an endless ceiling with webs everywhere. I look back down and I see a bookshelf, so I start combing through it. Finding a book I like, I pulled it off the shelf, opened it up, and another spider popped out. Looking back at the shelf, I see hundreds of spiders crawling everywhere. Every different species. I died right there.

I woke up to the sound of rain, and had some wierd revelation.

Someone at work told me that it was me trying to deal with being alone at the time.

Yea, I've had that with Age of Empires Conquerors.
When you starts seeing little guys run around, hear their response voices (Monde!) and the "getting attacked" music. You know you've played too much.

Lately my dreams have been full of crabs and other crustaceans.

Last night me and my fat cat were chasing crabs in the shallows with Ash cheering on me from out beach house balcony.

I caught a mantis shrimp (they punch hard)

It then vomited a bunch of clear baby shrimps and swam off. My cat looked at me weird.

Mantis shrimp strike with the force of a .22caliber bullet IIRC.

They can easily break bones in the hand, and do significant tissue damage elsewhere.

They are also notorious for breaking and shattering fishtanks, Specially if the person didn't know the mantis was there [came in hidden on live rock, for example ]
