That reminds me of old Russian festival of Summer Solstice. According to the religion of the old gods (before Christianity) the night of the June 22nd, was the night when the Sun-god was reborn and wed to his wife. And that night single young men and woman would hook up, dance around the fire and then go into the bushes until the morning. And if an unwed girl got pregnant on that night that would be a child from god, not adultery.

(For people wondering how the hell you can have multiple new years: some time ago when astronomy wasn't advance people didn't know that 1 yr = 365.25 days and not 365 days. So those .25 days added up to 14 days, and now Russian Orthodox Church refuses to abandon the old calendar, so there is an "Old New Year" on 1/14, "Old Christmas" on 1/7. Basically this gives an excuse to party starting 12/24 and ending 1/14. They only really celebrated holiday is the actual New Year.)

I can't stand what I call "artificial flowers" (basically anything that doesn't grow on the side of the road) and only really like poppies (ah ah... 10 min to bring it to me before the petals begin to fall... I'm counting!).

And to top that, I don't like chocolate nor jewelry.

But buy me a steak tartare and I'm pretty much a done deal. (It's red and you can shape it like a heart. How much more Valentine can you get? =^^=)

But in any case that's one of the situations where I'm even more happy to be a girl. Because for Valentine I can buy MYSELF a new set of red underwear or highheeled leather boots and that'll always make their day. Go figure.
