Isn't the real problem though that it's a sliding door? If it's a sliding door there's those tiny little wheels at the bottom. And if there's wheels there's a half inch gap which you can't fill up or put an insulation strip to if you want the door to move.
And even if you were able to prevent convection it's a big pane of glass and you'll still lose heat through conduction.

I don't know anything about insulation though, except that it's usually rubbish.

Sliding doors are not the best at keeping heat, I learned that in Japan.
If you don't have to use it in winter, you can seal it with paper tape that doesn't leave any sticky residues (or cut paper strips and glue them on with water based glue that you can later simply wash off).

If you have to use it, then heavy curtains as was mentioned before is probably the best thing you can do.
