Took my grandmother to the emergency room, unbearable backpain the likes of which she never has known

Got at the ER at 5pm, She didn't get seen by a doctor until 12, and was admitted...and put into a room at 2:30am

God I fucking love this country [/sarcasm]

I'm home for a few hours before I go back up to be with her. I hate hospitals, last time I was in this hospital I was thrown out of it.

did I mention that, because of last night, and sleeping on a hospital room floor, that I am operating on about 3 hours of sleep since friday ngiht?

hospital sucks...particularly private hospitals, if a patient doesn't have that much money they would treat the patient like shit

that's why i stay away from hospital as much as possible, even when i'm sick (here we can just ask the pharmacist for medicine without doctor's prescription)

evil doctors and money sucking hospitals exist everywhere, so much for humanity.....
people should sue them

Hope your grandmother gets better

Thats bull shit, how can an emergency room take 7 hours to see a patient. Especially an elderly woman with a problem ? Unless its regular for people to come in with bullet wounds and other problems.. I went in for an ear infection and it didn't take them that long to see me. However im glad your grandmother is alright, hopefuly.

There was a guy there for over 12 hours, and all he had to have done was a parasite test [ Big mouthed nurses who talk loudly are treasure troves of information ]

The ERs of every hospital around here are shit, You always go to the ER with the expectation of a 4 hour wait before you see anyone or anything.

Finally shes back home and feeling good, All this because she had an unusual reading [thats perfectly normal for her, altho they couldn't get her medical records and they wouldn't take her word for it]

So, after them being so paranoid about her having a heart attack, They come to the conclusion that its a bad muscle sprain/tear in the muscle fiber.

Well, atleast I didn't get thrown out of the hospital this time, thats one plus atleast. Last time, oh god the entire family was about to go nuclear, Fucking asshats.

O_o you're extremely lucky then (or I just live in an evil country >_>)

I've waited over 6 hours >_>. But it's normal in the UK to wait (I think, or it is where I live >.>). Shortest time I've waited is probably 2 hours. But then again I shouldn't be surprised with the waiting times in the UK :). It takes about 6 month wait period to see a specialist at a hospital so 6 hours for an emergency is pretty short in comparison.

(Hmmm I need to move to another country with a better health service >_>)

I don't usually go see the doctors at the hospital (except medical check-up)....the process is slow, long and I'd probably die before reaching any doctor

It's all about priority, you should have told the doctors that some bastards mugged/raped her, and then stabbed her in the heart to seal the deal. If the nurse taking the info didn't burst into tears of laughter after hearing that your ass would have been seen in like 5 seconds.

To the guy who waited 12 hours for a parasite test.... When the hell did he show up? Why didn't he just get an appointment? Sounds like a retard to me. And unless your family members are dying and you know for a fact it's probably gonna be 6+ hours to wait, just bust out the pain pills and help them go to sleep and make a freaking appointment. The ER is for people in emergencies, not people wanting to see a doctor at midnight, and I don't think enough people know that.

Yeah, when you can't move because you are in so much pain that you are damn near paralyzed, Thats no reason to go to a hospital

Should have told her to just man up, take a Tylenol and stop being a bitch, eh?

Idiot.

Yeah, true, the public health thing for specialists can leave people waiting for years here in new zealand o-o I guess I was lucky... not dying, no.. just dislocated shoulders and such, which seem to happen late at night too o_O so there were never many other patients waiting. Cats.

I've never been injured... Just a sprained elbow and ankles that don't really need hospitalization. My sister however, takes monthly trips to 3+ hour emergency room waits.

Only time I've ever been to the emergency room for my own reason, was as a kid, and I was taken in by ambulence so I got a doctor quick.

When I was younger I used to be very sick, Was in the hospital almost every month, getting jabbed with needles, blood sucked out, IVs pumped into me, etc etc.

Thankfully I grew out of that and now have one of the strongest immune systems that I know of.

I've never broken anything or had any stitches so I've never been to the emergency room. I had surgery on my eye in 2nd grade but that was a scheduled operation.

Unfortunatley, I have been to the ER many times.

What's also unfortunate is that wait times here can also vary between 4 - 9 hours. I work at hospitals on a regular basis so I understand why, but it still makes me wanna throw something.

I don't care how you justify it, It could be easily avoided by having 1 emergency doctor dedicated to just screening the walk-ins.
