I'm new to the convention thing and this will be my first convention. So i was wondering if it's worth it to attend. I see in the schedule that there's gonna be dancing. Is the dancing like nightclub dancing or more like crappy high school dances? And is there anything worthy of buying? And is everything that's worthy of buying too expensive to buy? Is there any good "shwag"?? Thank you

isnt AX one of the most popular and best north american anime conventions?
i know people flying down from Canadia to attend it :/

And yes, AX and Otakon are the biggest cons in America.

The con here is slim pickins, but a huge one like AX is probably not..
You shouldn't really get involved with weird fangirls unless your in your 20s and not a teen. Teen anime girls as a whole are quite retarded and not bright in the least. No wit, no cunning, no charm, no moe, no taste, no....I'm rambling... Make sure to see Man Faye when you go.

*sighs* for some odd reason reading this thread it seems yu guys/gals were at AX 2006, lol and btw, AX isnt that big of a convention, a big one, but im sure there is plenty of bigger ones out there, and as for the cosplayers, only a good 30% were hot while doing a excellent job cosplaying: truth on cosply: 1) Good Cosplay done by really ugly ppl, 2) realy crappy cosplay done by hot ppl, its really rare, and hard to find, Great Cosplay done by Hot ppl, but not hard to see crappy cosplay done by ugly ppl, lol, i kno i sound like a jackass, but im intitled to my opinion, lol im pretty sure all yu ppl hate me now, so oh well, i <3 yu all anyhows, lol and next Anime Expo 2007 will be in Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach California lol

In America, no. Otakon is just as large though, but that's it, for anime that is.

lol, if yu guys actully went to AX 2006, i dont consider it even a real convention, 1) becuz, only like 4 booths actully market new releases, and 2) every other booth is selling anime crap, the term of a convention is to discover new things about something yu love, not spend hundrades of dollors on crap lol

actually convention is aimed at promoting new shit as well as letting new developers to release their shit and let the ppl to first hand try it. Cosplay is just a follow up to it.

And dumb westerners started adding stupid shit like panels and industry guests just to attract more interests.

Ok i just pulled 1/3rd of that out of my ass. but some of them are prlly true.

In the bigger ones you have more industry events, but the heart of all cons is the dealer room.

I miss the big apple anime fest, there they showed movies in the vigin megastore movie theaters.
