There were a few recently that were multi-disk RPG's.

While backgrounds, world, battles and menu are great, the chara-graphics kinda suck. One of the first RPGs I ever played on PS2 was FFX and that is already around 4 years old, so I'm kinda disappointed by Grandia 3 in the graphic department (at least when it comes to charas). It could be intentional, but I would have prefered some chara design more along FFX - XII.
However, I'm playing Grandia 3 right now and it's really good in everything else.
... I hate the fact that Aerial Combos base heavily on luck, regarding the IP-gauge positions.
... I hate the fact that the enemy can move, even when it's not their turn yet, but my charas can't.
... I hate that you can only stack up 9x of everything in your inventory.
... I like the fact that you can start a surprise attack.
... I like the humor (I beat the "pea-brain" in the Anfog-woods a few minutes ago)
... It's on 2 discs, means it should be fairly long... I like that too.

I'll go back playing now...
currently waiting for yaoi anime to develop tentacle-sex... :swt:

thats how grandia has always been. The style is always the same, and you can easliy tell it was a grandia game. Disc1 though, felt like disc1 for ff9, where if i remember right i completed in less than 5 hours. Shadow Hearts 3 was released about a month ago in america, so yes, it is in english. Shadow Hearts does have a unique take on rpgs, but i don't quite think they are the best.

You will be surprised when you see the length of the game. I finished the game in only 30 hours.

The first half is brilliant. The second half... not so much. Story-wise, at least. But it's fun to play throughout, because the combat kicks ass. For me, though, it tasted a lot like Grandia 2, in that the story let me down towards the end. Don't want to discourage anyone from buying it, though, because there's enough good stuff in there to make it somewhat-less-than-brilliantly fun.
