Touching, sad, depressing... all I can say about this anime series, are these three words...
This is one of the best fantasy anime series ever. Although I watch the anime version of it before the manga, I have to say, they are equally good, despite the fact that most of the manga version is better than the anime version.
Story:
The story is around a 14-year-old teenager boy called Ikari Shinji. Torn by the Second Impace years ago like most teenagers do, Shinji lost his mother, and his father Gendo abandoned him to his uncle. Now, Shinji is facing the biggest challenge and the biggest decision of his life: his father is asking him to join an secret organization called NERV, pilot a robot-like giant, and fight for the survival of the humanity! Will Shinji accept this, and fights on, or will he run away from reality, as he wants?
I'm not sure how to put it in words... This series just seems to be flawless, and perfect in just everything! I mean, despite the fact that it is made long time, about 10 years ago, the animation and graphics are just great, and even better than some of the new anime series of today! The music is great as well, and I just love the ending theme, sweet, yet, with sadness in it... I do hope they should have more opening and ending themes though... And, the story itself is just fantastic! Despite the fact I rarely enjoy fantasy anime/manga, I was drawn to this series, and got hooked to it! It's probably the sorrows and the depression in the anime that made me like it so much (A note, I enjoy anime that is full of sadness... don't know why)! It's just that, I really think this NGE is perfect in nearly all aspects!
I feel sorry for the ending, the loses, the sorrow... I feel angry with some of the characters, their ugly personalitis, selfish, greedy, arrogant... I'm moved by the story, as I watch them... Neon Genesis Evagelion is really something that an anime fans should try, and he/she would definitely fall in love with it, be sympathy with them, moved with the story, and enjoy the show...
Well, at least I did...
