I dunno if noob is a proper term for that. Should be more like, get off the internets, if your first was that bad give up on wallpapers. I don't think you'll improve much. You can know the tools, but that doesn't make you artistic.

This might come as news to you so brace yourself.. Being artistic is not something you either have or you don't, like everything else it is something that can be trained. When you get more experience you learn what works with what and you can start putting out more eye-pleasing stuff. Besides, art is as subjective as it gets so you telling him to stop trying because you didn't like it is pretty lame.

Being artistic is something your born with. It can be trained to an extent, but people's brains and thought processes are different. Some are artistic while others really have problems being creative. Then again this could all lead into the nature vs nurture conflict. I'm for nature.
Telling him nicely, well sort of.. that it's ugly is better than babying him with false truths. As far as wallpapers with one picture go it's not very subjective...
I know that behind your screen there is a man who thinks it's very ugly.

lol, it's not all that bad.
It's not anywhere near good, but it's not the worst I've seen.
Protip: Bad quality .jpgs don't resize to wallpaper very well.. there is no way you'll get that particular image of ichigo looking good.. find some better saurce images ^^ Garbage in = garbage out, as they say.

I, personally, think that artistic ability is trained.

I won't be starting an argument because it's hard to convince someone in real life and impossible to do over an internet forum but I'll ask you this: Do you really think you're helping someone by telling them to give up? So maybe he shouldn't quit his dayjob for art but he will get better the more he tries and as long as you're making progress and are enjoying it then why stop?

Holy shit guys, everyone has their own perception of "art", chill out.

Let me line it up for future readers:

Of all the digital art you can create, wallpapers are probably one of the hardest. Work on stills, sigs, avatars, and composition before you take one on, because it will very likely end up sucking the big one, which seems to be the case here.

I give it a 2/10. 1 point for the work, 1 point for the color, blue is good.

Keep at it.

I am doing him a favour telling him to stop so that if he's touchy and he decides to post it somewhere with some real asses he won't be hurt. The problem is mosly with res, looking past that I suppose he could get better but being able to post this means he was self satisfied which menas he might never get better because he doesn't have a flare for good art. His sig looks good but it's just a brush...unless he made the fractal, and if he did then my hat is off to him.

First tip for walls, this might just be me: Don't put big text right in the middle, think of the composition. And never put your name in huge letters anywhere, just put your credit and (c) at the bottom in a 10pt pixel font or something.

I personally will never download a wall that has excessive text all over the place, exceptions go to those that can put it in the right place in the right context.

In my opinion wallpapers should be all about quality of image and how eye pleasing it is.
