mmmhmm... he's almost completely pussified himself in a single chapter
I was expecting it, but not so damn soon -.-

and since when has Gantz been so careless? leaving behind things that could jolt his memory or at least cause confusion
he had Tae hunted down just cuz of a few photos, but he leaves behind all this evidence for Kei? whateva

it just deletes his memory from when he first entered Gantz.

those pictures are not in his memory but its just there and he happened to look at it.

What you're saying leads to the main question... Well... one of them : What are the limits of Gantz' power ?

It's the first time we actually see someone be freed. Before that all we know is that no matter what, Izumi still felt that he was missing something. How ? Through obvious lack in his memory ? Objects that he shouldn't or should have ?

I stick with the theory that Gantz doesn't let go of people (especially Kei) so easily.

It's well within his power to remove a few photos and some mobile phone numbers. I seem to recall some "men in black" removing evidence of the attack on Kei's class when that alien came after him.

When Izumi made his way into the story, he had vivid memories of at least one of his Gantz missions. BUT this was before we had this silly 100 point system, so it all made sense. He got 100 points and was set free, but wanted to return.

Then Oku decided to bring this reward system in. Under this new system, Izumi's only way of leaving Gantz would've been to actually choose freedom, which makes no sense given his character and motivation.

To me, this is just further proof that Oku hadn't originally decided to incorporate the three rules and is now just milking this series for all it's worth.

actually, I zumi could have left on his on. Maybe he was actually scared that he will die in Gantz and no one will wish him back. Or maybe he didn't like all the fighting before, but after he left he realized that he really enjoys it.

I don't remember that at all.

I don't remember that either. I think he mentioned sites on internet but that's all.

And Nishi was surprised to see him back. What serious knowledge about what Izumi remembers exactly do we have ? Except for him going into the room with the weapons : nada.

I think he mentioned several times that I he had "found back" a feeling in the dino mission but nothing more.

For all we know he could have lost something similar to Tae...

After Kei's classroom/peers were obliterated by that alien, he mentioned that some "men in black" talked to him about not saying anything (I think there is actually a picture of them in one panel). IIRC, this is just before the introduction of Tae.

Izumi describes one of his missions to Kei (I think he calls it "The Massacre of ....") and babbles about how he "truly felt alive" when he was a Gantzer. The story is accompanied by pictures (Izumi's own flashbacks) of the mission. IIRC, this is at the part where Kei meets Izumi after hours at school.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything below volume 18 anymore, so I can't cite exact chapter numbers. :\

The "men in black" could be anything.

Well, I'll look before going further.

Seems fairly obvious given the context. The events surrounding the massacre of his classmates was covered up (I can't remember what the excuse was... probably the oh-so-subtle gas explosion excuse) and then some "men in black" come and tell him to keep his mouth shut.

Eh? I'm not following.

I'm really tired of this series. It's just continued to get worse and worse following the Buddha arc. As I've said many times before... it should've ended there.

Now I'm just plodding along as if I owe it to the time I've wasted. Twenty freakin' volumes! I want some resolution/answers and I'm not stopping till I see them.

Why are you hurting yourself, lol ? ^^

But anyway, I thought that Kei returing to "normal" life would disgust me but not. Quite the contrary. I like the manga even more.

Since the begining, I liked it because it was unsettling and every twist of the plot was hardly expectable. The more complicated it gets, the more elements are introduced, the more I like it. I'll not ruin my own pleasure by expecting a quick lame end but rather await for the puzzle to be completed before having an opinion.

Stories that turn out like I think they will bore me.

It's a two way street. Stories can continue to drag their ass if the mangaka just adds more and more useless fluff in an attempt to prolong them.

And I didn't really find any of the "twists" to be too... umm... twisty. What initially drew me in was the weird humour. Now that's all gone for "badass" factor. :\
