Twelve is the preteen entry period. Actually weren't 11 and 12 considered the tweens, I think I read that in a psychology or sociology book, I can't remember which.

I'm pretty sure over here you're a teen once you reach the grand age of 11/12, and you enter adolescence when you hit 16 with adult being 18...

Tweens is right. The awkward period when you enter puberty. At least for boys. Girls develop at about 7 or 8
