yeah i had the same problem, but i figured out that you can turn it off.

Go to User Accounts, there is an option that says "Turn User Account Control On or Off"

just click that and you should be good to go

yeah i'm having problems figuring out the vista networking options myself

"public" network is supposed to mean that you are secure and can't be seen by other comps or access them.....yet it doesn't work that way, me and Shakes were playing Company of Heroes via Hamachi LAN with my network set to public, and we could see each other just fine

"private" network is supposed to be for home networking and sharing purposes, which in some cases seems to work but when I set it this me and shakes couldn't LAN anymore. In fact I tried to go back to public and we STILL can't connect to each other.

I'm starting to consider going back to XP....

I DID turn it off. That's the first thing I did, actually. It has nothing to do with port forwarding issues, both hamachi and windows networking options are being gay.

The biggest issues I had with Vista when I first installed it was the sound: Turns out I had to download the Vista drivers that had been put out by creative several months before. After some tinkering, and tweaking, I managed to get everything sorted out.

My next problem is with the video card. Turns out the 7900GT wasn't made to handle Vista and it's stupid fucking UI.

At least, it's not the hardware, but more like the crappy drivers that nVidia put out. I've thought about RMAing the card and getting the 7950GT back, but that would mean I'd have to be without my computer for more than a day, and I'm not even on vacation. :(

I'm probably not going to upgrade to vista for a long time.

I'm fine with my linux for now.
