Firewalled in Ireland and can't play WoW

Postby volyund » Tue Jul 17, 2007 9:45 pm

It's summer and no school, so I thought I'd play a little bit of WoW.

So yeah, I'm on internship in Ireland right now, living in student dorms.
The Internet connection has SonicWall firewall on it, and it's a bitch.

I knew bittorrent downloads were disabled, but I was surprised to find out that even World of the Warcraft was disabled (I got "Unable to Connect" message right away). When I tried to look for a way to get around it, the forum itself was blocked. After an hour and a half of checking all the available web proxies I finally found a couple that were still unblocked, but still no way to forward an MMORPG through. *sigh*.

My condolences, voly.

You should find a OpenVPN server or some type of VPN that will tunnle. That way you can be firewall free. How we get past it at work.

In Ireland, you don't play WoW, you drink, get plastered and fight random strangers.
