2 - Or just people who will jump on every occasion to gather with the people they care for. I like my friends and my family. The day they arrived on this little planet...it was a good day for me. Definitely something to celebrate.

And I think that people who says they don't care for birthdays are just either a bit jealous or reject it only for the sake of not being like the crowd.

1 - Yeah, that was kind of my point. Heh. Partially.

2 - I suppose. I don't really see that as being special, I prefer to celebrate every day as being important, rather than singling out an arbitrary date.

Hey, me? Elitist? Never. I'm an individual, just like everyone else. Heh.

I should probably note that I'm not arguing for others to stop. I just don't choose to participate. If I get dragged along, I'm not interested in being a killjoy. It's more a mental choice, rather than kneejerk reaction.

If you're unhappy with the state of your life and feel like you're getting old without accomplishing anything, birthdays are sucky affairs which are best forgotten because they serve as a reminder that another year has passed. Yah.

Scaper: Oh true true :D good to know you're celebrating it though, rather than staying at home deliberately trying not to have fun. Yah

I try but it's definitely not possible to make all the people I love "King of the day" everyday. Birthdays might seem arbitrary to some but to me they're the only logical choice. It's a hard work even if only for one day but it's worth the pain.

Now, my way of thinking and doing is certainly not uninterested. But that's my own business.

And that's all well and good. People that celebrate birthdays aren't wrong. Probably, the people that don't, are.

I dislike all the fuss, too. A birthday wishes from me is usually little more than a handshake and a "happy b'day".

So!

I envy those who can enjoy themselves to such an extent.

I had a pet blue tongue, once.

Well, as much of a pet as a wild animal who barely even recognises your existance can get.

I'm fine with celebrating my birthday in my own way. I just don't want to make a big deal about it. There's no need for a royal extravagance with clowns and midgets and an elephant or two. The most I'll ever need is a pub, close friends, and maybe dinner with the family.

Celebrating someone else's birthday is another matter entirely.

this could be perhaps because when you posted this message it was Jan 3rd...parents often do the whole "what b'day, i dont know what your talking about" trick

my advice would have been not to expect happy b'days and gifts until the actual day ¬¬ either that or check the date more often

and happy b'day thunder person
