Apparently though, Mike Tyson took a maori symbol and put it on his face. I didnt know it was Maori.

The problem was that this originated way back then when woodcarving was still being used. Imagine how the fuck they did this to your face. Ouch. You had to have big balls to get that shit done.

From what I've read, the more enduring you were, the more wood-carved tattoos you had on your body and face. So how much tattoos you had directly signified how much balls you had.

they used to use wood chisels and a hammer to break the skin so the tattoo tattooed ._. scary. These days they just use regular tattoos... lah.

As I was saying to Shakes earlier, a large portion of the actors in LoTR also played ass roles in local soaps. and Xena and Hercules, of course. It really ruins it when the guy who used to run a food cart in the Shortland Street hospital is trying to act all rugged and cool-like on the big screen.

btw Xena was cool.

edit: Hmm, so Haldir is exactly the guy I was thinking of when I was complaining to Shakes (again) about all the crap roles these actors play on new zealand television which makes it impossible to appreciate them in a cool way in any otherwise good movie.
I didn't know he was in Xena o_o
