Just love this one! So far, the best shojo manga I've ever read!

It's because of Hot Gimmick, that I became a huge shojo manga fan as now. I first came upon this series in the school library, and was attracted to it right away.

What makes it so great, and so popular?

Two main factors. The first one, its great drawing style. Miki Aihara's style on Hot Gimmick is definitely one of the best ever! The characters are just so beautiful! The detail, the expression, the look, what more can you ask for?!

The storyline. Well, shojo manga, or most romance manga, are quite realistic compare to the other types, such as action, fantasy, or so. Although Hot Gimmick is just like another high school love manga, however, it has its unique points. The main character, Hatsumi, started as a slave? That is just unique, and that definitely attracts people's attention (well, at least, it attracts me!)! And the story itself is full of surprise. Take this as an example, when the "Prince on white horse" Azusa comes into play, most of us guessed that he's going to be the hero, but it turns out that he's getting closer to Hatsumi in order to excute a cruel revenge! I just love the story!

Although Miki Aihara's other works, Tokyo Boys and Girls, is somewhat not very good, but that's nothing compare to Hot Gimmick! Give it a try, and you'll love it!

Conclusion:

-Storyline: 10/10
-Art style/character design: 10/10
-General: 10/10

My 12 year old sister can't get enough of it, you sir must fail.
10/10 sounds a little bit over fanboy/girlish

Those are just my opinion. I think Hot Gimmick deserves a perfect score.

What is wrong with the art, certainly not the anatomy from what I've seen, so don't say that the artist needs to improve. Just read something that has a style you like.

Nothing can compare Yazawa's stuff or even Yoshizumi...
