Which anime(or manga)?

I was at a con a week ago and I saw these awesome cosplayers. They talked about the series they cosplayed from and both of the series sounded really good but I never found out which anime (or manga?) they were from. If you know the manga/anime, please tell me:

The girl with purple hair talked a lot about some fruit (I think it was pineapple but I'm not sure)

Well, I became interested because they talked about the anime/manga and it sounded interesting.
I can't see the problem with choosing anime or manga based on what people cosplay as. If they cosplay as people from that series it most likely means that they like it, at least enough to want to dress up as characters from the series. Besides, it's not like if I choose to watch or read the series that means that I'll HAVE to complete it, I can just read/watch a bit and then decide wether it's something I like or not, it's not like it hurts anyone.
It might be that I'll waste a few minutes reading/watching something I don't like but then I'll know that I don't like it and that's it. But there is a chance that I might like the series and then it was a good thing that I tried.
In my point of view there's nothing but wins.
