"Funimation" have sent illegal cease-and-desist orders to multiple fansub groups, trying to threaten them into stopping subtitling of series NoFunimation doesn't even have license to.

I call for everyone here to boycott NoFunimation, and tell them what you think of their illegal tactics in their forums too.

Customers get to vote with their wallets. If NoFunimation doesn't start treating the fans with respect, they won't ever see a dime of my money again.

So if the series in question aren't licensed, what exactly are they threatening to do? What legal action is there to be taken, unless Funimation plans to sue on behalf of the Japanese production companies.

yeah i'm pretty much angry myself and its hard to wait that long for a series we all love but if we boycott them then we'll not be seeing any anime here and japan who gives us there anime will stop giving us anime and there will be no more fansubs and such if we boycott :\

well since the anime is distributed in the US network and stuff rite now...maybe they ask the "professional" to sub it =/

Funimation would just distribute it, would they not? They'd outsource contract the VA and subtitling and case design work. I am just assuming, of course... I hadn't thought about it before.

lol it's not illegal to ask people distributing pirated foreign product for free. International copyright laws are..INTERNATIONAL. I'm not sure what legal action they could personally take, but it doesn't stop the fact that fansubs are illegal blah blah blah.

I might be a leech because I don't care anyway, but at least I'm not deluded into thinking that I have any right to this material.
