hrm

i guess it would be~(no particular order, like them all.)

1. Samurai X / Kenshin ( just all around good, liked the fight scenes / storyline )
2. Black lagoon ( fight scenes were badass )
3. One Piece (suprisingly good)
4. Darker than black ( overall an interesting one, kept me thinkin )
5. Naruto ( buh, i feel obligated to like it. started to pick up so, its better )
6. Elfen Lied ( just badass lol )
7. FMA ( first of its kind. i liked it a lot cause it seemed unique i guess )
8. FMP ( to me the fight scenes were nice, but could do with or without )
9. Cowboy bebop ( badass. need i say more? )
10. Gundam Seed ( was eh, alright i guess, could do with or without )

now, I saw Death note's first episode and it looked kinda iffy, is it REALLY that good as I so often hear it is? Cause' if its about some kid writing names in a book to kill them thats just kinda.....yeaaaaaaa somethin else.

Also saw Claymore. Was alright but, they could have done more with it so it was kinda dumb, left the story hangin big time.

I would put Bleach in there but seeing as how it turned into Pee Wee's Play house I would rather not.

Lookin for a new one to watch and from what I've read I NEED to watch Death note. Also I heard Berserk was good. Anything else someone wanna throw out there for me? That would fit into whats in my list.

These are my all-time favorites. Mostly these are my top picks due to nostalgia

1.
Trava Fist Planet / Dead Leaves
It's hard for me to choose between these two (Both are by the same team). So ADHD inspired. A story does exist, but it seems to be more of a giant pissing contest between the voice actors and the animators at times. Can't get enough of it. Great soundtracks.
2.
FLCL
Within the first 10 anime series' I watched. A classic, and what I consider to be a masterful showcase of Gainax' prowess. The Pillows. Need I say more?
3.
Cowboy Bebop
I probably needn't say much about this one. Film noir in space. Bounty hunters. Yokko Kanno. Fin.

Yes! I only know one other person who saw it (the person who was with me when I found it here on BU like four years ago >_<). I also miss the old Studio4c stuff (Digital Juice, Eternal Family, Sweat Punch etc...) I need to catch up with their work.

Any other avant-garde animators or series that you know of?

Gundam (Mostly the older series and the OVA's but im an all-in-all gundam fan)

Samurai X (and to a lesser extent the kenshin series)

there are some more animes i want to list but am not gonna as they are still going on and the series may end bad, ive also got my hopes up on a few new ones that are looking like they might make my list but its to soon to call it.

Death note if you havent seen it (but who hasnt haha) or Outlaw Star (kinda has the same feel as Trigun to it but a bit more future bounty-hunter like Cowboy bebop)

theres also a new series that just started called Soul-Eater that im enjoying so far, might want to keep an eye on it.

Ive never seen trava fist planet or leaves but since your tastes seem to be pretty simaler to mine i think i might look them up.

I actually do really hate Slayers. Its existence just irks me. and I watched the whole series, which makes it even worse. Maybe two series; I forget.

I never finished TTGL... it had its perks and its fun, but yeah.
If anything's reedeemed Gainax a little, it would be Gunbuster. Possibly Gunbuster 2 too.
But yeah, I just have a little box of scorn for a few series and I get to keep it and use it to feel scornful when I want to.

well not all of them are bad, you got quite a decent taste...but black cat just threw me away...
don't get me wrong tho...I like the manga version, it's got this nice shounen mediocrity and stuff but the anime is quite....crappy

Hmm yup, those are all top of the pops standard ones there.

Feel free to branch out and try something which no one is raving about. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Then again, I like a few of those so maybe you just need to watch more of everything and you'll start to pick out your own good taste.
