there is only one type of person, that would "use" the time to study, the rest would just slack off how it should be done.

Hmm, the "successful" type of person? Financially and career wise, I mean not necessarily in happiness or general quality of life.
Having said that, though, I daresay the person who can work hard in the short term with the goal of making life easier in the long term will ultimately be the happier and better person.
