jesus did they ever fuck up a good series. i am utterly disgusted and disappointed with how poorly they handled this. Sure, you knew he'd get beaten, but wtf is with the massive meltdown? The ending took me from feeling impressed, to pissed.

In the manga, Near wins. In the movie, L wins.

By some stupid twist of fate, I was half-hoping Light would come out on top. But whatever. I actually prefered this ending over the mangas, despite how the alterations were basically cosmetic.

I did really enjoy Mikami's retarded expressions and giant fountain of blood though.

Matsuda remains my favourite among the less important police people, despite shooting Light. Actually, shooting Light was one of the things that made me respect him, since light had to be stopped in order for Matsuda to survive. It was actually nice to see Matsuda act quickly rather than hesitating like he usually does.

Mikami was simply outstanding.

Near is a dick.

Ultimately it was sad because i watched someone who is possibly the greatest hero i've ever known of, die.

Ossum = Awesome, kinda hard to explain, but last time on acid I just thought ossum was funnier to say 'cus I make a pleased facial expression when saying it, so I started using it instead for some reason :P

i was thinking the same things , i never ranted out loud before about an anime , and my sister should i had killed some one i was so pissed , i my self for once wanted to see the evil power win hell i liked kira's world but the end pissed me off so bad i am still all heated about it

it was the best anime i watched in a pretty long time the ther animes that been comming out just dont do it like death note was doing it for me

The ending really pissed me off, in the anime it was like Light had been replaced by a dumber copy of himself after L died, really annoyed me. He wouldn't (if you take the rest of the series into consideration) have been so careless, left so much to chance. An obvious move for example would have been to have Mikami rip out an extra page to in case of an emergency And to use when Light met up with Near. It really pissed me off that he was defeated that easily.

And personally I would have liked to see Light triumph, I was rooting for him since he killed off that first criminal.
