Suggestions for Baka-Updates Site Improvements

Postby bigNutz » Sun Sep 03, 2006 10:09 am

I'm too lazy to read through the rest of the topics so I'm asking people to post improvements they want to see in the next version of baka-updates.

Apparently the topic I attempted to create yesterday got trampled on by retards who didn't understand the topic, didn't bother try to understand what the content had to say, and didn't know what version of the website we're on.

I'm here to do business to collect user suggestions and feedback, any bullshit messages will disappear.

start off by saying i've looked at this

Recently several groups have started releasing in multiple formats. For some examples, SS are releasing Mai-Otome in LQ and HQ versions; Lunar is releasing Bleach in XviD/AVI and h.264/MKV versions; Eclipse is releasing Shakugan no Shana in XviD AVI and h.264 MKV versions; and Mahou and Eclipse are both releasing Fate/Stay Night in these two alternative versions. F.i. ASuki lists this, and is the only feature I'm lacking in BU, but since asuki is so lacking in ather ways, one cannot really use their service anyway.

The version listed here is princiaplly always the vanilla (lower-denominator) XviD/AVI version.

So, please integrate (allow?) multi-version release support!

Ok, I've seen the same wallpapers listed here,

Image

for maybe a year now, which wouldn't normally bug me, but someone would come around asking about the source of bottom one maybe once every 2 or 3 months.
It's be cool at least to change it, or even remove it since the wp section doesn't seen very active anyways.

What would be kinda neat is to be able to see the the top 5 newest releases somehow integrated in the forum, so one can post and be notified at the same time.

I just wanna see the releases in order of when they were released, this alphabetical crap is annoying.
A thing on each subbers page that says like, IRC Bots: yes or no would be beautiful, but too much probably.

The multiple releases thing is the only thing that's keeping b-u from being the top torrent site. I could care less what order it's kept in, I can read.

frump, are you going to track down each group and ask if they have bots? If you aren't, who is? And who is going to keep it updated? It's the same thing with my old, old idea (that I was talking to Lucky about, at the time. If my memory serves me right.) of linking each series' page off to anidb or ANN. I know there's a thread like that in here, somewhere. He posted before I could, and I realised the enormity of the task, so I didn't bother.

That's why I said it's too much.

Removing the crc is pretty retarded but a time based filing system versus an alphabetical one is a good idea.

Also, multiple releases should be catalogued, as in xvid vs h264.

A new layout wouldnt hurt either. just saying.

I know this is a little vague, but I think everyone would benefit if there was some way of making new posters read FAQs and interesting notes to stop the common annoying questions (e.g. "hey b-u, this old torrent link doesn't work." and "hey guyez, why doesn't this torrent link work?") o_o

I can't think of any good way, really. Stickies just .. well, I'm sure they help some people, but evidently not all.

A good way would be to put a large heading link on the main site that takes them to the faq. Something like:

Torrent not working?
then they click and get served some intelligence.

If you were serious about it, when someone regs they would be immediately directed to the faq first. Or a waiting period, but those are gay and as KasugaSan posted, people are idiots.

yaoi

Postby bakh » Tue Oct 24, 2006 1:28 pm

Please do something :swt:
Maybe people should write "yaoi" near the name of manga. Dragon Z(yaoi)-for example. Or something else...

bakh, we have a manga forum at mangaupdates for suggestions to the manga site...But don't go over there and repost your request. You're not the only one who asked, but we won't even think about it if people keep pestering us on one topic

yes, that will work (of course i rather not be constantly change text size from page to page :/), but that's not really the point i was making. when text elements require a certain height then px should be used, not pt, as pt height is dependent on user's dpi :/

Hi I registered to post this suggestion.

Can we have a feature that keeps track of the shows registered members are following? Over at eztvefnet.org, they have a "My Shows" feature that registered users can use to look for new releases of shows they're following, kinda like a User CP in a forum to keep track of your subscribed threads.

It would be nice if you can see in the title (or next to it) if the Anime is a raw version or with subs, because sometimes i dowload some Anime without Subs ><"
Very anoying xD
