MKV Problems

I use zoom player and vlc player to watch most of my anime. Recently MKV files have stoped playing. I get a wired grey screen and then my player crashes. I can not figure out why this is happening. I went back and reinstalled all the codecs and it still happends. The funny thing is that 70% of the time when this happends the Dixv player will play the file perfectly. Sometimes though the Divx player will not run the file. This is only happening with MKV files.

Any sugestions?
